Acctg 215/225: Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting

These two classes were my first introduction to accounting. I chose to take accounting because I figured that if I liked math, I would like accounting. Looking back, it is pretty ironic that I chose accounting for math, because in my upper level accounting classes, and even in my intro classes, our professors reiterated that accounting is not math!! Accounting deals with numbers, but you use numbers to understand how a business works and how operations impact the financial statements.

Financial accounting dealt with learning how to prepare journal entries and financial statements, while managerial accounting focused more on accounting for manufacturing companies. Although I enjoyed both classes, I liked financial accounting a bit more. I chose accounting based on a stereotype but ended up switching my major to accounting - however, I was a bit uneasy with my decision.
